About Telehealth

Telehealth is the practice of providing care and/or education about healthcare to patients at a distance using telecommunications technology. In other words, it is a method of treating patients using the Internet and/or telephone. This can take the form of real-time video chats, secure email, or phone calls.

The terms Telemedicine and Telehealth are often used as if they were the same thing, but technically Telemedicine is a subset of Telehealth. The term Telemedicine refers specifically to patient and health care provider encounters for diagnosis and treatment. The term Telehealth is a broader term to include Telemedicine, but also includes non-clinical uses of telecommunications technology such as for preventative, educational, and health-related administrative activities.

For ClearCut ORTHO services, this is not necessary. A prior face to face relationship isn’t required because we are not providing treatment services, diagnostic testing, or giving diagnoses.

This depends on the specific application, but the software chosen by ClearCut ORTHO including the SecureVideo platform and Zoom Video software app, is extremely easy to use, quick to download, free, and boasts the most user friendly and clearest connections available. Patients and providers with a basic familiarity with online apps should be able to quickly figure out how to use the Telehealth application.

First click on the link to schedule, pick a day and time that works for you. You will be prompted through email to download the Zoom software application. On the day of the consultation, prior to accessing the Telehealth portal, you will have to click to approve the informed consent page. Be sure and have your driver’s license or other legal form of identification ready to show.

Yes, but only when it is conducted using an encrypted platform that was designed for the purpose. Many general consumer video applications do not meet the encryption requirements for healthcare services.

About the Software

You will need access to a phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop with video (camera) and audio (microphone) capabilities. You do have the option of talking via telephone instead of using a microphone during the video chat. No matter which device you use, you will need to download the Zoom app. Be sure to follow the prompts given through our emails and webpage portal. It will prompt you to download the Zoom app, but don’t open it. Go back to the login provided to you and join the Consultation.

Yes. If you do not have access to a phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop with adequate audio and video capabilities, or if you just feel more comfortable talking on the telephone, that is no problem. Follow all the same steps to sign up, but on the day of the consult, simply call into the number provided and let us know you will not be using video.

Yes. Older iPhones or Androids may struggle to have quality video or audio, but a newer smartphone or tablet will function well for your Telehealth Consult. You will still need to download the Zoom application in the app store.

About the Consultation

Patients: ClearCut ORTHO gives patients the opportunity to receive education without a trip to the doctor’s office. They don’t have to take time away from work or family responsibilities. They don’t waste time traveling, or money on parking or public transportation. They don’t risk exposure to other patients with communicable illnesses. They also are likely to save money on procedures that would have been unnecessary while improving their chances of better health outcomes. To sum it up, ClearCut ORTHO helps patients become advocates of their own healthcare decisions.

Insurers or Healthcare Sharing Companies: Video visits can reduce the overuse of unnecessary and harmful procedures, which improves quality of care for their clients and can significantly reduce yearly expenses. It also helps secure patient loyalty in a competitive healthcare field and improves patient satisfaction with their respective healthcare company.

Some health sharing companies and insurance companies will pay for subscriptions to ClearCut ORTHO for their clients to help decrease client and company costs while increasing quality and accuracy of care, but individuals cannot bill these services to their insurance company. All services on our site are cash based.

The quality of Telehealth as a method of healthcare delivery is confirmed by years of research and demonstrations. Telehealth, especially for educational and consultative purposes has been found to be a safe, cost-effective and convenient way to provide healthcare services and/or education to patients.

The best choice is to be at home with a secure Wi-Fi signal, but a strong cell signal will also work. Choose a still, quiet room with good lighting.
