Video Analysis of Biomechanics Fort Worth & Plano, TX

Video Analysis of Biomechanics

Biomechanics is the study of all the components of human motion and how they interact. The study of biomechanics is important when determining what causes injuries and therefore how we can prevent them from reoccurring. This is especially important in elite athletes but can be a major cause in recurrent injuries in any patient. Fort Worth physical therapists are professionally trained to detect biomechanical faults which can predispose you to injury.

At ClearCut ORTHO Physical Therapy Specialists, we take the time to observe the movements of every patient to improve their performance or prevent injury. Many times this is done simply by watching functional movements and analyzing the patient. If necessary, we will use video to break down the movement and further distinguish any factors causing pain or injury risk. This is also a valuable tool in patient education as they can now see their own movements in real time and watch the improvements occur with repetition and practice.

Large movement faults may be observable with the naked eye, but many motions occur so quickly that only high-speed video analysis can capture some of these critical movement faults. Some sports/movements that we commonly incorporate video analysis with are:

  • Golf
  • Running
  • Throwing
  • Swimming
  • Jumping/Landing
  • Cutting

After a video analysis for any patient, we will slow down and annotate the video, give feedback on each motion, and if needed prescribe corrective exercises or training to improve any faults found. We can then reassess for improvement when the athlete or patient has had enough time to make improvements.

The certified and licensed specialists at ClearCut ORTHO are specially trained to observe and identify faulty movement patterns and limitations of the musculoskeletal system that may lead to nagging, debilitating injury.
